![]() At The Pilgrims Rest we are always on the search for new and exciting suppliers to help our brides and grooms plan their day. Last week we met with the fabulous Esther, Sam and Becky, the creators and talent behind Boxed - a brilliant and novel way of catering for weddings. Inspired by their Winchelsea Beach surrounding with its abundance of flora and food, Boxed creates an informal yet luxurious alternative to a wedding breakfast. Their decorated boxes provide both a beautiful centrepiece as well as delicious surprise for guests as they dive in to discover its contents. “This part of East Sussex constantly inspires us. We are so lucky being surrounded by beautiful plants and trees plus incredible produce. It is so exciting being able to work with brides to create alternative styles and trends - the options are limitless. Each box is unique and bespoke to the couple.” All three talented Boxed ladies add their own skill and creativity to each box: Becky, a trained patisserie chef, has been baking her delicious creations for local people and businesses for many years. Becky’s skill is baking the most delicious, and beautiful new cakes to meet the brief. Always in high demand - everyone wants a slice of Becky! Esther has been in the food industry as a high-end deli buyer, caterer, pie maker and charcutier. Highly knowledgeable with a little black book of carefully sourced suppliers, Esther’s favourite part of a wedding is carefully filling the decorated boxes just before the guests arrive. Sam is completely at home with all things natural and wild. Sam’s bushcraft knowledge coupled with her skill as a garden designer and her understanding of plants and flowers is apparent on all her stunning boxes. The Pilgrims Rest is a unique, historic wedding venue in the Heart of East Sussex. This 600 year old Wealden Hall house could not be a better venue for a Boxed wedding. With its wide trestle tables and rustic charm this is truly a match made in heaven! As we hit November it has me thinking how idyllic The Pilgrims Rest is for a winter wedding. A Wealden hall house dating back to circa 1420, with three beautiful reception rooms - the Great Hall, the Dining Room, and the Webster Room all boast inglenook fireplaces. With endless historic features from ancient beams to linenfold doors, witch’s marks to ward off evil spirits and a secret tunnel hidden under the Great Hall fireplace that runs beneath the Abbey walls, The Pilgrims Rest is a truly unique winter wedding venue. The Pilgrims Rest is an exclusive use venue licenced for weddings and civil ceremonies. There are no corkage charges and no hidden extras. We have designed our venue to be a wonderful backdrop for your winter wedding – one that you can stamp your own personality on without the hassle and expense of furnishing an empty venue. So, stoke up the fires, light some candles and watch as The Pilgrims Rest sparkles into life… For more information on holding your winter wedding at The Pilgrims Rest, please contact Amy on venue@pilgrimsrestbattle.co.uk or call on 07552873448.
