Full of rustic charm and historic soul, The Pilgrims Rest is a truly magical place to tie the knot. A perfect backdrop for elopement weddings, intimate weddings and those a little larger, the venue can hold up to 50 guests for the ceremony and up to 90 evening guests.
All weddings have exclusive use of the venue which is run by our highly experienced and friendly team. To help couples create their perfect day, we have furnished the entire building with elegant vintage and antique pieces. Everything you see on visiting the venue is included in the hire price. Stunning seasonal decorations, as well as an Aladdin's Cave of props, are included - removing any additional cost (and hassle) of hiring in furniture and decor. At the same time helping those choosing a more sustainable wedding by avoiding any unnecessary landfill.
At The Pilgrims Rest we have no fixed suppliers; Instead we have a Tried, Tested and Trusted list of amazing ones we happily recommend, but the choice is yours whether a fully catered or a DIY wedding. The Pilgrims Rest is more than 600 years old - A Grade 2* listed Wealden Hall House situated in the medieval town of Battle in East Sussex. Adjacent to Battle Abbey, the venue is ideally positioned within walking distance of nearby hotels and B&B's.
Far more than just a beautiful building, this grand old lady has hosted celebrations for six centuries from medieval banquets to Georgian balls; Victorian luncheons to Edwardian tea dances. Over the years flagons of ale, goblets of wine and flutes of champagne have been consumed beneath her eaves, to the sounds of merriment and laughter flooding through her walls.
