With bulbs starting to poke their way through the earth and the morning song of birds now returned to our shores, our design team at The Pilgrims Rest have been building a nest of their own, busily creating a new look for Spring.  Like Snow White and her feathered help, we too have been hard at work sprinkling even more magic onto our already magical wedding venue - albeit a little less tuneful in the singing department!

At The Pilgrims Rest we all love creating our seasonal looks.  Each season we add something new making the building sing for each season.  The looks vary from season to season but all have the same aim - to make having a wedding at The Pilgrims Rest as beautiful and cost effective as possible.

Our Spring look includes cherry blossom and hazel twigs suspended from the Dining Room ceiling intertwined with moss filled tea light lanterns.  The furs on the benches in The Great Hall have been swapped for pretty bohemian rugs in faded blues and blush pinks (you can still have the furs if you prefer) and the stair and fireplace garlands have been spruced up with blossom and pussy willow.  To top it off we have been painting lanterns in chalky blues and filled them with dried moss and candles tying in perfectly with the rugs.  

As well as everything we already provide from The Bryant dressing rooms and the new Fitzherbert dressing room to the cosy Webster bar, the Spring look in the Great Hall and the Dining Room adds a stunning, fresh take on our gorgeous venue.

If you prefer to decorate the venue yourselves then we can also pack everything away and let you do your own thing.  Whatever you choose, The Pilgrims Rest is a wedding venue unlike any other.  600 years old, full of rustic charm and historic soul, The Pilgrims Rest offers couples the flexibility to have their wedding just how they want it.  There are no corkage charges, no fixed suppliers and no hidden extras.  To arrange to view this little gem for yourselves please call….

We all love wedding photographs which is why finding a great photographer is a must for many couples. The right photographer will capture emotion, joy and fun on your wedding day so it is a good investment but can also be an expensive one. What can really push up the price is the need for two photographers shooting at two different locations for the pre-wedding photographs. 

If your budget cannot run to a second shooter only one part of the morning is recorded.  What often happens is that while a bride or groom is getting ready, their future spouse has no one taking professional photographs of them; no one to capture their pre-wedding nerves, their families looking so proud; their best man or bridesmaid straightening their tie or fluffing their dress.  

Some venues have dressing rooms but rarely two.  Wanting to get ready together but still keep the element of surprise as your walk down the aisle is something many couples are looking for; this is often difficult to find.

At The Pilgrims Rest we are always looking to help couples have a wonderful day and keep their costs down.  So with this in mind, we have been working hard to create a second dressing room for grooms and brides; all under one roof but still quite separate.  We have designed our new room to be the perfect backdrop for pre-wedding photos.  Rich, cosy and quintessentially British, we absolutely love it and so do photographers. 

But what to call our new dressing room?  The bar and our original dressing room are named after families who once lived at The Pilgrims Rest but not this time.  Instead we have called it The Fitzherbert Room for all the Mr Darcys and Bridget Joneses out there looking to tie the knot.   And let’s face it, who can’t say it without thinking of that famous scene from the film and still keep a straight face?
