The Pilgrims Rest is licensed to host both Legal and Non-Legal ceremonies inside The Great Hall with up to 50 seated guests for Civil, Blessing and Hand Fasting ceremonies.

pre-ceremony interviewA pre-ceremony interview will take place before your ceremony in your wedding venue. It is an opportunity for your registrars to meet you both and to make sure your marriage certificate is correct. The interviews will take place 30 minutes and 15 minutes before your ceremony and you can choose to have them individually or together. |

Running orders:
At The Pilgrims Rest, your chosen hire options allows you the flexibility to construct your own running order of the day within your given hire times. Our wedding team will be on hand to ensure the order is followed accordingly and to make sure your day runs as smoothly as can be.

BELLS AND WHISTLES:
- You have 5 hours the day before your wedding to set up The Pilgrims Rest yourselves and with any extra helping hands you may need.
- You have access from 9:00am (your access time will be listed in your contract) to The Pilgrims Rest for your wedding day.
- All music and alcohol will stop at 11:00pm and carriages should be booked for no later than 11:45pm.
- You have access from 9:00am until 11:00am the following day to collect all of your remaining belongings and rubbish from The Pilgrims Rest.
LESS IS MORE:
- You have an exclusive 12 hour hire of The Pilgrims Rest.
- Your 12 hour hire can commence at any time from 9:00am to suit your day and can finish no later than 11:00pm.
- All music and alcohol must stop by 11:00pm.
- All decorations and rubbish must be taken with you at the end of your 12 hour hire.

Frequently Asked Questions
PRE-CEREMONY INTERVIEWS:
Both of you must have an interview with your registrar before your ceremony if you are having a civil ceremony. One interview will take place 30 minutes before your ceremony and the other 15 minutes before, or you can have the interview together.
CONFETTI AND GROUP PHOTOS:
After your ceremony if you have chosen to have confetti and group photos, guests will be ushered outside (weather depending) and you will be sent back down the aisle for a moment alone together. We will then send you both outside to join your friends and family for confetti and group photos. Your drinks reception will commence following your ceremony.
CAKE CUTTING & FIRST DANCE:
If you decide to have a wedding cake, cake cutting makes for a great photo opportunity for friends and family to witness.
There are several options when it comes to cutting your cake. By cutting your cake before, during or after your meal your caterer can cut and serve the cake for your dessert (so none will go to waste)!
If you would like your evening guests to witness your cake cutting, we can set your cake up in the Great Hall for friends and family to watch followed nicely by your first dance.

END OF THE EVENING:
At 10:45pm it is last orders at the bar and the bar will be closed at 11:00pm for no alcohol can be consumed on the premises after this time. Music will also stop at 11:00pm and carriages no later than 11:45pm.

ceremony music:For your ceremony music, there are a variety of different options for you to choose from. LIVE MUSIC: If you enjoy live music, why not have a live band or musician to perform your ceremony music. We have several musicians on our recommended suppliers list including a harpist and acoustic guitarist which can add an element of traditional romance into your special day. SPEAKER: In the Great Hall, a standard size portable speaker from home creates the perfect sound system for your ceremony (and even throughout the day). A small JBL speaker produces enough sound for the songs to be heard by all guests in attendance. By bringing along your own portable speaker, all you need is a personalised playlist and a chosen guest to press play and your ceremony music is sorted! |
DRINKS RECEPTION MUSIC:
If you have a particular taste in music, whether that be cheesy pop songs or a bit of Rock'n'Roll, we highly recommend using your own speaker with a personalised playlist to provide the music for before the ceremony, during your ceremony signings and drinks reception.
