As a beautiful historic wedding venue in the heart of East Sussex, The Pilgrims Rest has understandably close links to romance. However, we have discovered that it is linked in more ways than we realised. About six hundred years ago at a time when The Pilgrims Rest was being built by hand out of local oak and sandstone, the very first Valentine’s message was being penned. A more recent discovery comes from Slovenia. Saint Valentine was known in Slovenia as one of the saints of Spring; the saint of good health, the patron of beekeepers and, most importantly (to us), the patron saint of “pilgrims”. So, with our ties to Saint Valentine here and overseas, what better place to have your wedding than The Pilgrims Rest? A truly magical and romantic wedding venue in more ways than one, The Pilgrims Rest offers you the flexibility and choice to make your wedding day your own. With no corkage charges and no hidden extras, The Pilgrims Rest really is the perfect place to say “Yes”. From all of us at The Pilgrims Rest we would like to wish you a very happy Valentine’s day! For more information please contact Amy via our website www.pilgrimsrestbattle.co.uk on the contacts page. We love this photo of our lovely couple Rianne and Ricky who married at The Pilgrims Rest last year. Beautifully captured by Maria at Ebourne Images www.ebourneimages.com
